What crazy, interesting, confusing, strange, amazing experiences do I have on a weekly basis? Maybe my students made some off-the-wall comment. Some other time, I might have a story about a wonderful teaching moment. There may be some weeks that I reflect on my strengths/weaknesses as a teacher and others where I need advice. I'm dealing with the experience a day at a time.
I'm a little torn this week. I honestly love teaching and I love the school and I love the kids. Math is still my path of choice and I truly cannot see myself doing anything else. How many people can honestly say that? Every time I talk to my mom or dad, they ask "how is student going?" My response is always the same. "It's great. I'm really loving it. I just can't wait to have my own classroom."
As interns, we are lucky to have mentor teachers who take the time effort away from their normal careers to guide us and teach us. Not only do our mentor teachers have 100+ students, 5+ classes, and lives outside of school, but they also now have a student teacher to be responsible for. I am more than appreciative for the things I have learned and the techniques I am able to practice in my mentor's care....(even though My mind is racing duty calls - shopping- and I will finish my thought later!)
